4 TIPS TO SELECTING YOUR DREAMY BED LINENS

4 TIPS TO SELECTING YOUR DREAMY BED LINENS

When you think about it, we spend around one-third of our lives in bed! That’s well over 20 years of our lives in beds!

Surely, then, we should choose bedding and bed linen that makes this time as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. But with so many different types of bedding to choose from, where do you start?

But don’t worry, we at Canopy Home Indonesia have got you covered with these 4 tips.

1. Finding the Fabric

Bedding comes in all sorts of different fabrics, and each different type will affect comfort and feel. The most common fabrics are cotton, silk, linen and poly-blend, and the type you choose will largely come down to personal preference:

  • Cotton bedding is very popular. Cotton is durable, versatile and breathable, making it ideal for luxury bed linen.
  • Poly-blend bedding mixes soft cotton fibres with polyester, and is extremely popular for many homeowners due to the fact that it is comfortable and easy to care for.
  • Linen is renowned for keeping you cool. Yes, it does have a wrinkly, less-ironed look, but it is luxurious and soft, and gets softer with each wash.
  • Lastly on the list is silk; one of the priciest fabrics, but well worth it. Silk is naturally hypo-allergenic and is known to be very cooling. The only downside high-maintenance as it’s very delicate to care for.

2.  Picking the Patterns

The patterns on your linens can drastically alter the look and feel of of your bedroom. Don’t be afraid of introducing patterns that suit your taste and change it up! Waffle and jacquard will automatically inject a patterned element, but you also can mix and match patterns and prints if you know what you’re doing.

Our advice is to aim for a mixture of different pattern sizes for your bedding items (pillows, duvets, cushions and throws), and avoid picking same size patterns. One thing you should look out for is selecting similar colour groups to avoid the whole ensemble looking too chaotic.

3. Selecting the Quality

When we talk about linen quality, there’s a short myth that we’d like to uncover: a high thread count does not always indicate quality.

So what does thread count mean? Thread count refers to the number of threads per square inch of fabric, and higher thread counts have frequently been linked to indicate higher quality. However, there are other factors to consider, like quality of the yarn is. However, we have always prioritized quality at Canopy Home Indonesia, so be rest assured when you pick from one of our many collections.

4. Caring for your Bed Linens

Different types of bed linens require different care processes, so make sure you keep it in mind when choosing yours. Beddings require care so that it can be long-lasting. Here are a few tips based on the materials you choose:

  • Cotton and poly-blended cotton bedding types are among the easiest to care for. They’re usually machine washable and the poly-blend in particular requires little to no ironing,
  • Linen bedding can also be machine washed. In fact it benefits from regular washing as it becomes softer each time, making it both practical and pretty!
  • In contrast, silk is the hardest to care for as mentioned above. Super luxury silk bedding this cannot be put through the washing machine, and must be gently hand washed and air-dried outdoors where possible.

No matter which linen you choose, be sure to read the care label and follow its instructions!

At Canopy Home Indonesia, all of our luxury bedding is easy to care for, wonderfully soft and designed with love, care and attention to detail. Take a browse through our bed linen collections and mix and match our luxury duvet covers, pillowcases, fitted sheets and flat sheets.
